Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Getting started is the most difficult step. However, we’ve made it as easy as filling out a simple form to get a free 10 day trial. See you on the mats!

WHAT SORT OF THINGS SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A SCHOOL?

Safety and structure should be considered when choosing a martial arts school. Our school places safety and respect for one another above everything else. We are proud to offer a complete curriculum along with online access to the Gracie University.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

For your 10-day trial you need comfortable clothing you can workout in. Examples include a t-shirt, sweatpants and/or leggings. Please refrain from clothing that contains zippers, belts, shorts, or tank tops.

Gracie Bullyproof & Gracie Combatives: Once you sign up, a clean, white gi will be needed to attend class. These can be purchased through our store.

HOW LONG IS EACH CLASS?

We do our best to make sure that each class begins and ends at our scheduled time. Little Champs and Jr. Grapplers is a 50 minute class. Gracie Combatives is one hour, and Reflex Development is 30 minutes. Private lessons can be scheduled in 30 minute and one hour time slots.

ARE BEGINNERS WELCOME?

Yes! Our beginner classes are designed so that ANY person regardless of age, athletic ability, or level of physical fitness can participate in the class.

It is always best to consult your physician when deciding to begin any new physical activity, including Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

WHO CAN TRAIN JIU-JITSU?

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone – regardless of age, gender, or strength. We are currently enrolling students as young as 5 years old into our Little Champs program! Gracie Jiu-Jitsu was developed to allow smaller, weaker people to defend themselves against larger, stronger attackers. The curriculum relies on technique and leverage rather than strength and athleticism, allowing all types of people to excel at Jiu-Jitsu. This is one of the most empowering aspects of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, as you will discover. Anyone and everyone can participate!

DO YOU LET STUDENTS SPAR?

During the beginner program (Gracie Combatives) there is no sparring. We feel it’s important for you to first understand and master the 36 core techniques in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. After reaching mastery in Gracie Combatives and earning your combatives belt, you are eligible to move onto the Master Cycle program, where you will have the option to spar with other knowledgeable students.
